Fiamma di Re - 2 Corone n. 36
This Fiamma di Re, graded 2 Corone, is a distinctive Freeform with a long, low and highly original silhouette, allowing Andrea Pascucci to develop the shape freely around the natural character of the briar. The result is an elegant, slender pipe, with a strongly angled bowl creating an intriguing contrast with the almost straight, elongated line of the shank.
The smooth briar is enhanced by a warm honey and amber finish, bright and natural in appearance. The flame grain follows the construction of the pipe beautifully: it becomes livelier and more enveloping around the bowl, while along the shank it stretches into finer, more regular lines that visually emphasize its considerable length. The 2 Corone classification identifies the grade assigned by Fiamma di Re to this particular piece.
The bowl is undoubtedly the defining feature of the design. Its inclined, almost conical profile culminates in a broad and dramatic rim, where the smooth finish gives way to a partially rusticated treatment surrounding the chamber. This irregular crown deliberately retains a more tactile, organic appearance, creating a striking contrast with the polished surfaces of the bowl. Viewed from above, the textured area forms a natural frame around the chamber, making the pipe especially interesting from every angle.
Measuring 164 mm in length and 43 mm in height, with a weight of 42 grams, this Freeform has notably elongated proportions while remaining relatively light. It is also a Stand-Up design: the geometry of its lower section allows the pipe to rest independently on a flat surface, adding a practical quality to its unusual sculptural character.
The long black mouthpiece, slender and only gently shaped in profile, completes the composition without distracting from the briar. A slim silver band marks the transition, introducing a bright accent that elegantly separates the warm amber tones of the wood from the glossy black mouthpiece.
A distinctive Fiamma di Re 2 Corone Freeform that beautifully expresses the more creative side of Pascucci's work: elongated, asymmetric and rich in detail, combining smooth briar, a tactile partially worked rim and a characterful Stand-Up construction.
