Mastro De Paja - n. 127
Soft proportions and a pleasantly dynamic profile characterize this Mastro de Paja 2D – Media – 1 Sole, a pre-smoked handcrafted Italian pipe with a flowing and harmonious silhouette. The bowl has a full, rounded volume with a gently inclined upper section, while the shank leads naturally towards a long, tapered curved black mouthpiece.
The smooth briar is enhanced by a warm honey-brown colour and particularly lively grain, clearly visible across both the bowl and shank. The lower area of the bowl features a more pronounced textured section, providing an attractive contrast with the surrounding smooth surfaces and adding individuality to this particular example.
The stampings identify the pipe with Mastro de Paja, one of the representative names of the Pesaro school of Italian pipe making that developed during the 1970s. The workshop became known for handcrafted production, careful selection of briar and shapes capable of interpreting traditional pipe forms with a distinctly Italian personality. The characteristic Sun emblem, also visible on the mouthpiece, is one of the marque's most recognizable symbols.
The 2D – Media – 1 Sole markings form part of the nomenclature found on this example and add further interest for enthusiasts of vintage Mastro de Paja production. A distinctive pre-owned and already smoked Mastro de Paja pipe combining attractive briar, balanced proportions and unmistakable Italian craftsmanship. The photographs show the actual condition of this specific pipe and form an integral part of its description.
