Mastro De Paja - n. 125
Compact, substantial and firmly proportioned, this Mastro de Paja 2C – 1 Sole “Per Amici” is a pre-smoked handcrafted Italian pipe in a classic Pot shape. The broad, relatively low bowl, with substantial walls and an almost cylindrical profile, gives the pipe a strong presence, while the straight shank and tapered mouthpiece maintain a balanced and traditionally styled silhouette.
The smooth briar features a warm honey-brown tone and particularly attractive grain, with long vertical flame patterns clearly visible across the sides of the bowl. The lower section features a more irregular textured treatment extending partially towards the shank, creating an appealing contrast with the smooth surfaces. The straight black mouthpiece, bearing the characteristic Sun emblem, completes the design with understated elegance.
The 2C – 1 Sole markings belong to the nomenclature of Mastro de Paja, one of the historic names associated with the Pesaro school of Italian pipe making that developed during the 1970s. The workshop became known for an artisan approach in which briar selection, hand craftsmanship and individual interpretations of traditional shapes played an important role. The distinctive Sun, also visible on the mouthpiece, became one of the most recognizable identifying symbols of the marque.
The “Per Amici” designation adds further interest to this vintage example, together with its 2C classification and attractive briar grain. A distinctive pre-owned Mastro de Paja 2C – 1 Sole Pot with a robust, traditional character, particularly appealing to enthusiasts of vintage handcrafted pipes from Pesaro.
