Mastro De Paja - n. 126
Classical in proportion yet given a more dynamic character by its curvature, this Mastro de Paja 3A – 1 Sole is a pre-smoked handcrafted Italian pipe in a traditional Bent Billiard shape. The full, regular bowl has a gentle inclination and flows naturally into the shank and long curved mouthpiece, creating an elegant and beautifully balanced silhouette.
The smooth briar features a warm orange-brown finish, with lively natural grain clearly visible across the bowl and continuing along the shank. The curved black mouthpiece provides an attractive contrast with the warm tones of the wood, while the slender metal band between shank and stem adds a discreet bright accent.
The 3A – 1 Sole stamping is particularly meaningful within the historic Mastro de Paja grading system. The 3A grade identifies a smooth pipe with an orange-brown stain, while the additional 1 Sole designation indicates a selection distinguished by good quality grain. The Sun emblem, also visible on the mouthpiece, is one of the most recognizable symbols associated with the Pesaro workshop.
Born within the celebrated Pesaro school of Italian pipe making that developed during the 1970s, Mastro de Paja became one of the representative names of Italian pipe craftsmanship. This pre-owned Mastro de Paja 3A – 1 Sole Bent Billiard retains the appeal of that tradition, combining a classic shape, attractive smooth briar and harmonious proportions. The photographs show the actual condition of this specific pipe and form an integral part of its description.
