This Fiamma di Re belongs to the Fiammate group and immediately stands out for its distinctly sculptural conception, transforming the briar into an original and imposing silhouette. The bowl opens towards the top with broad, taut surfaces, while the rim follows an elegant undulating line: a deliberate departure from conventional geometry that gives the pipe an instantly recognizable identity.
The smooth polished finish, in a warm honey-amber tone, has been chosen to make the briar the true protagonist. Long flame grain rises along the sides of the bowl, following its vertical development and flowing naturally across the surfaces towards the shank. This striking expression of the grain places the pipe within the Fiammate group, where the natural pattern of the briar plays a central role in the aesthetics of each piece.
Particularly successful is the contrast between the sculptural mass of the bowl and the long, square-section shank. Between shank and mouthpiece is a precious F.D.R. sterling silver band, finely worked and luminous, providing an elegant highlight between the warm tones of the briar and the deep black of the stem. The fitting itself retains the geometry of the shank, a detail clearly visible when the pipe is disassembled and a further indication of the care devoted to its construction.
The black mouthpiece, gently curved and tapered, visually lightens the composition and elegantly complements the strong character of the bowl. A small Fiamma di Re emblem set into its side provides a further distinctive finishing touch.
The pipe is graded 1 Corona and measures 145 mm in length and 60 mm in height, with a weight of 52 grams.
